SoulTrain.com: First why don't each of you introduce yourselves.
D'Smoove: Starting with myself, my name is D-Smoove.
Kevontay: My name is Kevontay.
Jay-R: I'm Jay-R.
J'son: I'm J'son.
Gavin: I'm Gavin.
3rd Storee: And we're 3rd Storee.
ST: And Get With Me is your first album with your current line up. When does it drop?
Gavin: The album drops actually October 1st. Look for it. We come with the heat - 3rd Storee!
ST: And just tell us a little bit about the record and your sound. How would you describe both?
Kevontay: Okay, I'll describe the record. Get With Me is strictly party song
ST: And you're talking about the whole album.
Kevontay: Yeah.
ST: Now what's the first single?
Kevontay: The first single is "Get With Me."
ST: Also "Get With Me?"
Kevontay: Yes.
ST: And you also had a ballad on Rush Hour 2?
Kevontay: Yes.
ST: So talk a little bit about that song.
Kevontay: Alright, I'm gonna let Gavin talk because that's his favorite song.
Gavin: "I'm Sorry" is actually my favorite song on the album. "I'm Sorry" is a very emotional ballad, very emotion-filled ballad. It's very nice, very universal, everybody likes it. It's a very nice joint to me personally, I love it.
ST: Now you mentioned Rodney Jerkins. How did you all hook up with him?
D'Smoove: Well, basically the label - Tina Davis, and Nokio from Dru Hill. He entered our project. So, with that being in mind, you know, just a matter of knowing people in the business. They call Rodney, 'Hey Rodney, we need you to do this joint for 3rd Storee,' and he was already familiar with the group, so we came down there, recorded at the Hit Factory in Miami. Beautiful experience. First single, it's hot, hot. A blessing, exactly.
ST: Now in the past you guys, some of you have toured with N'Sync and Britney Spears. Just talk a little bit about those experiences. What was that like?
D'Smoove: Wow, I'll ellaborate on the Britney Spears. Britney Spears, ooh, she's so sexy, very beautiful. The tour was very beautiful. It was an overwhelming experience. I mean, to perform in front of such a large audience is very overwhelming and at the time we had a single out, so people knew the single. They were very familiar with the single and the video, so...
ST: The single was "Party Tonight?"
D'Smoove: Yeah, the single is "Party Tonight." Aw, so you know it! "Party Tonight!" Wooo! See, you wish I was here y'all, but y'all gotta watch it over the net, but it's alright. Go ahead, tell about the N'Sync, K'tay.
Kevontay: Oh, wow. N'Sync! We did the Ain't No Stopping Us Now Tour in '99 and we couldn't have asked for a better tour. That was straight the Lord who blessed us tremendously with that. We saw maybe like 65,000 people a night. It was crazy! We just went out there and had so much fun. N'Sync treated us so well. We love the guys, ya know what I'm sayin.' We still talk today, we're friends, and we just had a good time. It was a lot of fun. We just did the 8701, Evolution Tour, so I think we should talk about that, 'cause Usher is a good guy.
ST: So, you just wrapped up another tour?
J'son: Ok, let's see... the Usher tour. Well first of all, we got on like the second leg of the Usher tour right after we finished the West Coast Tour. We were touring with Faith and Nas, Usher and another group called The Profession. It was crazy. We got a lot of appreciation, just tons of appreciation. A lot of people remembered the group from back when they were touring with N'Sync and Britney Spears, so we had a little recognition. We thought that were gonna go out and there and be like, okay, since this is a fresh group everybody would be like 'Hmm, okay, they're good, but I don't know 'em.' But we got a lot of recognition.
ST: What about future tour plans?
J'son: Actually, we're in negotiations right now and we might be, might be going overseas with Ashanti and Ja Rule. That'll be excellent. You can check for that one.
ST: Any ideas about the next single?
J'son: "I'm Sorry" is the next single.
ST: Okay, from the Rush Hour 2 [soundtrack]. It's also on your record.
Kevontay: If you want to listen to it now, all you gotta do is go pick up the Rush Hour 2 Soundtrack. "I'm Sorry," #15, you know.
D'Smoove: Or if you want listen to "Get With Me," just call your local radio station and have them put it on. Or you can request the video and we can just keep it rockin'! Or go to 3rdStoree.com. We got the video playing on the thang, so you can see it visually and audio. It's goin' down.
ST: Well, thank you all for talking with us today.
J'son: No problem.
